Can I use the same part number for different origins?
Yes. You can assign the same part number to multiple countries of origin so Tariff Hippo can capture and apply accurate compliance, tariff, and trade data based on origin. In fact, Tariff Hippo works most effectively when origins are clearly listed,helping ensure the most accurate trade intelligence and compliance results.
How frequently is Tariff Hippo updated?
Tariff Hippo is updated continuously based on changes affecting Canadian trade and compliance. Update frequency varies by industry and activity levels and may occur daily or even multiple times per day.In most cases, legislative changes, surtaxes, trade priorities, and Customs Notices are reflected within 6–12 hours, and often within the hour
Can I have duplicate part numbers?
Yes. Tariff Hippo supports both internal and vendor part numbers, allowing easy cross-referencing within your product database
How will I be notified of updates or changes?
You’ll receive email notifications when updates directly affect products in your database.Broader platform or industry updates are available anytime in the Tariff Hippo Updates section, helping reduce inbox overload while keeping you informed.
When are updates completed?
Updates are applied continuously throughout the day as new CBSA data and trade changes become available.Our cloud-based platform allows these updates to be rolled out quickly, typically without downtime or disruption
What currency does Hippo use?
We are proudly Canadian, and all payments are made in Canadian Dollars (CAD).
Can I upload my current database to Tariff Hippo?
Yes. We encourage users to upload their existing database, and we provide a straightforward template to make the process fast and easy.
Can I purchase additional bonds?
Yes. There is no limit to the number of bonds you can purchase through Tariff Hippo. Payment is required before bond processing can be completed.
Is there a limit to how many CCI records we can create?
Yes — the number of CCI records depends on your subscription plan. Bronze includes up to 5 CCI records, Silver includes up to 100, and Gold offers unlimited CCI records.
Can I download blank FTA forms?
Yes. All forms are available for download in the Free Trade section. You can also generate fillable forms directly from your product database to save time and improve accuracy.
Do you provide tariff classifications?
No. Tariff Hippo does not classify products. We recommend working with your customs broker or trade consultant for classification support. The CARM Client Portal also provides classification resources.
Will I be notified about my bond renewal?
Yes. You will receive a notification 30 days before your bond renewal date. Additional reminders are sent each year after CBSA’s annual financial security review (typically beginning October 21) to help you confirm any required bond adjustments
Can I purchase a bond higher than $50,000?
Yes. Higher bond amounts are available. Additional charges apply for amounts above $50,000, and the surety may request financial statements before final approval.
